Aside from being the deepest crater lake in America at 1,943 feet, it is also considered one of the clearest bluest lakes. Formed by the collapse of Mt. Mazama volcano; according to legend, the eruption was the result of the battle fought between the God of the Sky and the God of the Mountain. Rising from the center of this lake is what is called the Wizard Island, which is the volcanic remains of the cinder cone left behind. The lake remains a subject of wonder, deep mystery and mesmerizing beauty for all.
